The #BCTECH Summit is the largest technology and innovation showcase in Western Canada. I had the opportunity to attend the Summit the past 2 years, and both of them were well organized and professional. I met with a lot of people from different sectors, including local and international investors, university students with creative ideas, government representatives, experienced product developers, and entrepreneurs, like myself.

There were hundreds of exhibitors who were showcasing innovations across several industries, including consumer products, healthcare, and green energy — and they were all incredible. I had an opportunity to experience and learn about many new products, such as AR/VR products from our BC companies, green energy transportation equipment, easy-to-use information technology and software apps.

Altumview had a booth in Startup Square at the 2017 Summit and we had a lot of success. Many attendees showed interest in our leading edge smart vision technologies and products, such as facial recognition and object classification. Many people did not realize that complex tasks like high accuracy facial recognition can be effectively performed on a palm-top AI box, just like the one we developed in a high-dynamic environment.

Overall, the Summit is great for startups. At the Summit, your products and technology get exposed to people from all different industries. Investors come to discover the next unicorn and learn more about your innovative tech. You can talk face-to-face with many candidates who are looking for a new career while also networking with other entrepreneurs and people from large enterprises. Government agencies are there to show you resources that are available to make yourself successful. More importantly, through the #BCTECH Summit app, you can request and book meetings with target clients and agencies. Last year, we were fortunate enough to have meetings with several Fortune 500 companies and government officers.

Needless to say, Altumview has once again signed up for the 2018 #BCTECH Summit and I’m looking forward to another great event.
