“Who can I connect with that would be valuable to one of my clients?”
That’s the single motivation I have at the #BCTECH Summit.
The #BCTECH Summit is one of Canada’s most important conferences for technology entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, and companies. It brings together the entire ecosystem in an engaging and relevant format.
As a business and technology lawyer, the #BCTECH Summit gives me an unparalleled opportunity to be a connector in that space. Being a connector is an important value I offer my clients. Lawyers have a unique vantage point as a result of being at the table for deal closings and negotiations of every kind and size. Yet most lawyers do not leverage that vantage point by opening up those networks to their clients.
At Ink LLP, our approach is different. We actively seek opportunities to help create deals and make connections for our clients.
At last year’s #BCTECH Summit, my days were filled with meetings. Each one of those meetings was with a new contact that I identified as being strategically important to at least one of my clients. I met with companies that I thought a client might be interested in acquiring; I met with a niche VC knowing that her mandate was perfectly aligned with a client looking to close their financing round; and, I met with a major multinational corporation that fit a client’s target customer profile.
With each new strategic contact, my value as a connector and service provider increased. The new connections demonstrated to my clients that I’m committed to their growth.
Being at the #BCTECH Summit is a no-brainer for a service provider in the technology community. Whether you’re interested in learning more about the last year’s developments in the industry, hearing from thought leaders in a particular space, networking among prospective clients and partners, or increasing your network for the benefit of your clients, you need to be there.
And when you do go, I hope we can connect.
Geoff works with entrepreneurs, start-ups and high growth companies in the areas of business, corporate finance, and technology.
