When you think “partners,” what’s the first thing that pops into your head?
Maybe it’s Sherlock and Watson, peanut butter and jelly, or pineapple and pizza (yeah, we said it).
Here at the BC Innovation Council, we may not have partners-in-crime – but we do have partners, and it’s thanks to them that we’re able to put on an event like the #BCTECH Summit every year.
When you’re hosting the largest tech conference in Western Canada, you want to make sure that everyone who would benefit from the event is able to hear about it, whether from Vancouver, Prince Rupert or a different country altogether. However, BCIC’s network is only so big. That’s where our partners come in, with their various areas of expertise and different audiences.
At last year’s #BCTECH Summit, almost 30% of BC attendees came from outside the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. That’s hundreds of entrepreneurs, innovators and tech enthusiasts who got to experience the Summit because someone reached out to them and said, “You’re an important part of the BC tech ecosystem, and we want you here.” We consider our partners such important members of our team because they work to make those connections all over the province.
There’s this saying that’s been floating around the business world for years now: “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” We’ll admit that we don’t know everything about tech in BC. But, we do know organizations like the HR Tech Group, Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and more – and that goes a long way in helping us put on a world-class event.
So thanks to our partners. They’re the Bert to our Ernie and the cheese to our macaroni, and we honestly couldn’t do what we do without them. Check out the list of our #BCTECH Summit Marketing & Supporting Partners for 2018 and go show them some love!
