Dr. Salvador Ferreras
Provost and Vice President, Academic | Kwantlen Polytechnic University
Salvador Ferreras is the Provost and Vice President, Academic of Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). He is responsible for the academic leadership of KPU’s programs and courses. He has a mandate to realize exceptional learning experiences for KPU students through the collaborative development and implementation of a comprehensive education plan that is relevant to students’ needs, KPU's external communities and that fulfill KPU’s polytechnic university mandate.
He has served on faculty of a number of Canadian post-secondary institutions including the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria, Vancouver Community College and the University of Windsor. He holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of British Columbia.
An active member of the Metro Vancouver cultural community, he served on the Board of Arts Umbrella for seven years, the Rosario Ancer Flamenco Arts Society, and the BC Arts Council. He maintains an active performing and recording schedule. In 2003 he was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and received the Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award in Music in 2011.
