The Music Cities Hackathon offers a space for experts, entrepreneurs & students from different disciplines to come up with innovative and sustainable solutions to tackle challenges that cities worldwide are facing. Experts & students with backgrounds in disciplines including music, programming, architecture, urban planning, creative industries, design and science are encouraged to participate. The event kicks of on Sunday evening with a full day of hacking on Monday, closing with presentations and award ceremony at 8:00pm.

Reconciliation Through Indigenous Language and Technology
The First Peoples’ Cultural Council will host a panel session and workshop to discuss best practices and issues related to technology for Indigenous language documentation, revitalization and learning. These local and internationally based experts will address topics related to language data sovereignty, language data security and will share Indigenous language tools and resources that have positively impacted and advanced language revitalization work in their communities.
Delegates attending the #BCTECH Summit are invited to attend this session, which will run from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Museum of Vancouver. This is a free event and will include a catered lunch.

Lipsync Buildathon
Join a small group of people dedicated to making a difference for those living with limited mobility and spend Monday afternoon building easy-to-assemble Lip Sync devices. These mouth-controlled input devices allow those with little or no hand movement to operate a touchscreen device, opening up access to helpful apps, services and daily connections.
You can choose to come as an individual, or organize work-mates to spend the afternoon making these devices – then meet and fit the recipient of this device!

The Earth Data Store will transform the current 3-dimensional digital models of the world, built from static satellite images of unknown age, into a 4-dimensional globe where pixels are less than a day old, and where pixels from last week and last month are available.
